INDIA

Welcome to another adventure! -  एक और साहसिक में आपका स्वागत है

It's Jaione. This time we have travelled to India, another special and spiritual country.

I think that this trip has been the funniest undoubtedly. The native people from India has different ways to express with regard. You will discover how we learnt that over the blog.

This time we decided to go directly from Pamplona to India (flying). It was difficult to find a cheap flight, since the distance is enourmous. We have been waiting for  a long time to have this opportunity, but finally we have achieved it.

In this trip in addition to learn about the Hindi culture we have discovered another type of food. Besides, it has been a trip where  we have had time to think. We have connected more with ourselves and we have found a phrase from Gandhi that defines why we have chosen this adventurous life.

It says: "Live like if you will die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever"

The first day we had to buy a dupatta. It's a shawl-like scarf and is essential to many women's clothing. We took a taxi to go to our lodging. Once there, we rested a little bit and then we lead to the Taj Mahal, our first real contact with Indian culture. Taj mahal was recognized by the UNESCO like humanity heritage. Like the poet Rabindranath Tagore said: "A tear in the cheek of the time".

The second day,  we woke up with energy. So we decided to visit India Gate and Hawa Mahal.
In India it's very common see people riding bicycles with a cart behind them. So we decided to take a ride. When we got close to the driver, Lea asked if we could get on the cart. The driver shaked his head, which we asumed that meant "no". So we splited and we took a taxi. Then, when we were returning we explained the situation to our families and we searched information about that. We discovered that native people say "yes" shaking their heads , which in our culture means the opposite. When we discovered, we couldn't stop laughing. For that reason, readers, it is very important to find out information about the culture before travelling.

Finally, we arrived to Hawa Mahal, a palace in Jaipur. Then, before going to the door of India, we stayed in a restaurant and for only 161 rupees (2 euros) we ate a dish called Thali. India Gate was amazing. It is a memorial to 70.000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the period 1914-20 in the first world war.

Our last day was well-spent, we went on adventures discovering hidden places. It was heartbreaking to see the poverty of India. But thanks to that, on our trips we can see what is happening on each country in reality.

  1. Hi girls!
I read your blog everyday, I have more interest in this post that in other ones because this summer I will go to India. Even so, you do a great job with "backpacking around the world".
I would know where did you stay in India. I have been searching for many different hotels, hostals... and they are very expensive.
Have you any anecdote as the one of the bicycle? I dont want to have misunderstandings with them so if you know more things that they do opposite than us, please let me know!
Thank you and continue with this great job! <3
