MOROCCO

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

it’s Jaione. Welcome to another adventure!

Last week besides going to Paris, we went to Africa, concretely to Morocco.

You are probably wondering why we chose Morocco. Well, Lea and I are always thinking about traveling and we have a lot of destinations in mind.
One of our favorite destinations in our "to-do" list was Morocco, so we decided to go in our holy week. We were so excited to explore Sahara dunes.

The first day of our adventure was hectic. We missed the plane so we had to stay in the airport tree hours more waiting  to the next plane. Finally, we loaded.

We arrived to Marrakesh and we only had three days to see all the famous landmarks such as kutibia mosque, kasbah of the udayas, saadies tomb, menara garden,.. and then, we were going on a nomada adventure.

We realized that some of the  places were too far from each other, so we decided to rent a car. Firstly, we thought that we could rent a car and go on our own, but taking into account that we didn’t know anything about Morocco , we  decided to hire a guide. The guide was a girl called Alissa.(She explained that the traduction of her name was Jesus.)

The day we arrived, we went to kutibia mosque located in Marrakesh. Alissa explained to us that it is the most important mosque of Morocco and it was one of the biggest in the world after its construction in the year 1158. As in the rest of mosques in the city, the entrance is forbidden to non-Muslims. For that reason, we couldn’t see it. But the place, the garden, the square...were stunning.

After that, Alissa took us to a restaurant. The  food let us astonished. First we ate aubergine zaaluk, which, as Alissa told us, it's the excellence plate. Then, they carried a dish called tangia ( a stew with meat traditional from Morocco)

The second day we woke up soon, we didn't want to miss anything. Firstly, we went to Yamaa square. There was a bazaar, they had everything, different spices, handmade manufactures... In the afternoon we visited the kasbah of the udayas located in Rabat. (Ancient military fortress built in XII century which in 2012 it was declare humanity heritage by the UNESCO).

The third day, before going on our nomade adventure, we went to saadies tomb  located in Marrakesh. We went with Alissa, who explained the history of  the Ahmad al-masur sultan to us. For only 20 dirhams per hour (1,4 euros) we had the opportunity to contemplate that curious and calm place. Finally, in the afternoon, we went to menara gardens, botanical gardens located to the west of Marrakesh, near the Atlas Mountains. It was the lodging of the before mentioned Ahmad al-masur sultan.

In our last day we couldn’t miss the Sahara dunes and a nomade adventure. We arrived to the desert in a 4×4. Once there, we had to leave the car and go with camels to be able to enter in the dunes. Some of the tourist prefer to spend the night in Marrakesh but we decided to spend the night there, like a real nomads. We sleept in special tents.

Our amazing trip to the Merzouga dunes (the north of Sahara dunes) started in Marrakesh. Then, we crossed the draa valley and arrived to Zagora “the desert door”. From Zagora we set out on the route to Tazzarine and finally we arrived to the dunes sea of Merzouga. (Erg Chebbi)

It was an amazing trip, and I would not trade this experience for anything in the world
